Biography

At age five, football became my life, my passion, and my energy.  The beginning was just as ordinary as any other child.  Born April 25, 1979 in a modest neighborhood known as “The Hill” of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, favorite summer past times always included football.  Playing for the “Packers” midget league from ages seven to fourteen was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.  Football not only became a passion, but an outlet.  Over the years a certain mentality developed only fellow football connoisseurs could relate.  When the start of high school came along, it was known that my special talent would relinquish on the field, which is why I was the first during that time to start as a sophomore on the varsity team.

Earning a defensive playing position in the Harrisburg High School Big 33 Classics, winning the 1998 First team All Area, and finally the 1999 Third Team All State helped further my football career.  It was a 1997 game in Downingtown, Pennsylvania that a recruiter by the name of Bill Kerlavovich recognized my outstanding abilities.  From Harrisburg High school a full athletic scholarship was given based on these abilities to attend West Virginia University. The runner-up position was earned while there as a freshman during 2001 for the Insight.com Bowl and two times Rookie of the Week awards during the Music City Bowl in 2000. From West Virginia my outlook began to change and the decision to switch schools was imperative in regards to my future.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania awarded a full athletic scholarship from 2001 through 2003.  During my stay, in 2001-2002 we defeated our opponents and became the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champions for both Eastern and Western regions.  After graduating from Indiana in 2004 I worked as an assistant defensive line coach for one semester.  The transition from player to coach was not difficult. The plays, the formations, and timing to say the least were all embedded since the beginning; however the transition from football coach to working as a male juvenile counselor from 2004 through 2006 in the Philadelphia area had an impact regarding my next move.

Working as a counselor was rewarding, however coaching football is my passion.  This passion led to a coaching position back where it all started. From 2006 through 2008 Harrisburg High School’ Cougars football season flourished with my help as a varsity offensive line coach.  It was great to see the drive and determination of those possible future draftsmen.  This determination led to Harrisburg’s first MidPenn Title and their first District Title.  As time went on coaching the Cougars, philosophies and strategies changed by the head coach in a direction deemed destructive for their football status, which caused my next decision to be one of the hardest ones ever. Cougar’s main rival saw this as an opportunity to seize one of the major inspirations behind Cougars success.  Now at age 30, I have been coaching the offensive line since 2008 for the McDevitt Crusaders which has also brought success winning the MidPenn Title and defeating Harrisburg Cougars, and I continue to push the players to their maximum abilities and strive only for the best.
